Welcome

Welcome to the website for the province of Murcia. For those of you that are new, thank you for visiting our site and taking the time to learn more about Freemasonry.

Murcia is one of eight provinces that form the Grand Lodge of Spain. We cover an area ranging from Albacete in the north, to Mazarron in the south.

Through this site our Murcia Freemasons will be kept informed with up-to-date information of what is happening within the province, and the site will also provide other useful Masonic details.

If you are a visiting Freemason and would like to attend one of our meetings whilst you are in Spain, you will be made very welcome, as long as you are in good standing with a Grand Lodge that is recognised by the Grand Lodge of Spain, and you can produce proof of your proficiency and standing.

Most of the money we raise is based around social events involving Freemasons, their partners and friends. We support non-masonic charities nationally and locally.

We have shown our commitment to the local community over the past few years with the severe flooding in the Murcia region and the pandemic. Currently we have, and still are, supporting the Ukraine appeal. We are proud to be able to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

If you are not a Freemason and you would like to learn more and discover what the fraternity of Freemasonry has to offer, at the top of this page you will find a section all about freemasonry and how to become a member. Or you can contact us for an
informal chat.

A warm welcome and fraternal friendship awaits any brethren who wish to visit us.

We thank you for taking the time to visit our website.

Sincerely, yours

History

The questions of when, how, why and where Freemasonry originated are still the subject of intense speculation. The general consensus amongst Masonic scholars is that it descends directly or indirectly from the organisation of operative stone masons who built the great cathedrals and castles of the middle ages.

Charity

Charity is at the very heart of Freemasonry. All lodges within the province involve themselves in the local community and actively promote Freemasonry in the province. Find out more about how we are helping our local communities.

Who are Freemasons?

About Freemasonry

Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations. Its roots lie in the traditions and ceremonies of the medieval stonemasons who built our cathedrals and castles. Some rituals are still celebrated today.

Freemasonry means different things to each individual – making new friends, contributing to society, celebrating a long tradition, experiencing personal growth, taking up a hobby, having fun.
